I just moved to London, and was scoping out Depford as a potential future neighborhood. First off, I love the cultural mix of this area. I passed by Chinese, Vietnamese, Malaysian, African, Afro-Caribbean restaurants before landing at The Orient restaurant.
It's on the high street, and I was drawn in by the roasted ducks dangling in the window. I asked the waitress what the Chinese customers were enjoying, which turned out to be steaming bowls of noodle soup with various options. I went for the roasted duck with bok choy. It was delicious! Just as good as my favorite duck-noodle soup in New York's Chinatown. I washed it down with a large pint of Chinese larger on tap. The total bill was 9 pounds, and I was very happy :)
This place encourages me to consider Depford as a home base, especially if I can get a noodle soup fix on the high street. -

A really good local Chinese restaurant, with great service and delicious food.
The meals are superb value at around £5.50 for a meat or king prawn dish with rice or noodles: perfect for a budget lunch that's tasty and freshly cooked.
The rest of the menu is great, too: personal favourites include the salt and chili aubergine. Friends rate the crispy duck as the best they've had!
Service is friendly, and I enjoy eating here both for casual lunches and for meals out with friends and family. Highly recommended! -

We go there fairly often . It's got really good fresh food and the service is great . They always remember me, but that's cause I'm a local celebrity. Kinda like Deptfords Wayne Rooney .
